VERTICAL STRIKE

Scenography / Live show, performance art, Le Générateur – Paris

While the rearguard make art history a matter for contemplative men, active women like Sarah Trouche, Wynn Holmes and Émilie Notéris have turned it into a performance combining dance and pole-dancing. With Vertical Strike. I can’t stay silent, they’re refreshing the codes.

Invited to take over the Générateur, a venue dedicated to all forms of contemporary expression, they presented ‘Verticale Strike / Je ne peux pas rester silencieuse’.

For this sensual choreography of bodies and words, Light is More is called on to highlight the memory and voices of painters, poets, authors and performers who have worked to establish parity in art.

Light accompanies the performers in this suffocating, hard-hitting dance in the middle of a deconstructing space, transporting the stage out of time.

At the beginning, concentrated at the heart of the stage, it makes the audience forget the scenic space and carries them along to the rhythm of the words and breaths. Bodies clash, tense and disperse, and the light leads us to discover the isolated sets zone by zone. It accentuates the strong and dramatic moments of the show to the rhythm of the fluid, energetic or haunting movements of the bodies.

The atmosphere is immersive, and the paintings reinforce the darkness and dreaminess of the subject. Emotions are revealed and questions are raised, until the appearance of bengal fires brings the audience back to reality.

Light is More created the entire lighting design for this performance.
